The protagonist enters the last room of the house and finds two ancient coffins quietly placed in the center of the room. Her heart races, and the air becomes heavy, the atmosphere in the room more oppressive, as if an indescribable force is trapping her here. As she approaches the coffins, suddenly, a loud metallic sound echoes through the air. The door slams shut with a sharp noise, followed by a strong, ominous aura of a sealing spell, locking every corner of the room. The protagonist realizes that she is trapped and unable to escape. She frantically searches for an exit, trying to break free from the unexpected predicament.
In her panic, she accidentally triggers a mechanism on the incense burner. With a shift in the burner, the wall slowly opens, revealing a hidden underground passage. Without hesitation, the protagonist enters the dark passage, descending into a gloomy basement. The air in the basement is damp and cold, the walls covered in worn-out marks and old wooden boxes. She begins to search for clues in the dim light, and eventually, she finds an old, weathered diary in a corner. As she flips open the first page, a chilling message appears before her eyes:
"We were all bought and brought here as 'goods' during the war. Our fate was already sealed — we were preordained, destined to complete one pairing after another. The buyers paid a price, but what they exchanged was not just money; it was a curse from which there is no escape."
This passage sends a cold shiver down the protagonist’s spine. She realizes that she is in a place far more terrifying than she imagined — not just an abandoned house, but a twisted market, a place where 'ghost marriages' are conducted. Her thoughts flash back to the haunting wedding ceremony she had witnessed in the house, the girl sealed alive in the coffin, and the deceased groom. She suddenly understands: that ceremony was merely a way for the families to "honor" the deceased, selecting suitable "goods" — innocent girls, chosen based on their birthdates, to be paired with the deceased through this ritual. This house exists for that very purpose.
The diary continues, revealing the dark secrets:
"Whenever the sons of wealthy families passed away, the family elders would send a message, instructing us to select a suitable girl. We would choose based on her birth date, nail her into a coffin, and seal it with a charm. Finally, the girl would be buried with the deceased, her fate eternally bound with his soul, becoming part of the ghost marriage."
These words send waves of terror through the protagonist. Her eyes fall upon some old wooden boxes in the basement corner, and a dreadful thought crosses her mind: these boxes might hold more dark secrets. She begins to feel an overwhelming sense of dread, as if she, too, is becoming a part of this ghost marriage ritual. No matter how hard she struggles, it feels as though she can’t escape the fate this house has imposed upon her.
She can’t help but remember the two coffins she saw earlier in the room. Their presence seems closely linked to the dark history she’s just uncovered. Perhaps, from the very beginning, this house never intended to let her leave. She must find a way to unravel the mystery behind it, or she may become one of those innocent girls, eternally trapped in the curse of the ghost marriage.
