Haunted in a Loop
A downloadable game
On a gloomy night, the player accidentally stumbles into an abandoned old house. The rain pours down in torrents, and the wind howls through the air. Inside, the lights flicker on and off, and the air is thick with the stench of decay. At first, the player feels no sense of unease and is instead intrigued by the house's structure, deciding to explore further. However, when the player attempts to leave, they find themselves standing in a hallway identical to the one they had just walked through. No matter how many turns they make or how much distance they cover, everything seems to be endlessly looping, the walls seemingly swallowing their steps. The rooms repeat in eerie unison, doors tightly shut, windows covered in dust, and the silence is suffocating. At that moment, the player hears a deep, mournful wail, followed by a chilling ghostly laugh from behind. Turning around, there’s nothing. The house seems to be shrouded in an inescapable force, as though the player has been trapped in an invisible maze. Every attempt to break free only leads them back to the same place—the end of the corridor, still met by the unsettling door.
It is at this point that the player realizes they are no longer a mere intruder, but rather caught in an inescapable "ghost hitting the wall" loop. Each choice they make feels as though it is being controlled by an unseen hand, and the fate of this house seems bound to theirs. They must find the crack in the cycle and unravel the hidden secrets of this house. Every decision from here on is critical: the player could choose to keep opening doors, attempting to break through the eerie situation, but each time they will find themselves in the same predicament. Or, they could stop, take a deep breath, and try to find a small clue hidden in the environment, or even abandon their instincts and take an unknown path.
As the cycle repeats, the player begins to notice that the house's layout is not fixed—the walls sometimes melt away, sometimes shift—and the real exit is not in plain sight but hidden in the choices they make. Each decision changes the shape of the walls, and even the terrifying elements within the rooms are affected. The player starts to realize that this "ghost hitting the wall" game is not only a test of space but also of mind. Behind each decision lies deeper fear, and each correct choice might lead them toward an unknown freedom, or deeper despair.
